Education Comes With a Price Tag

My latest piece for the Huffington Post just went live. Titled "Education Comes with A Price Tag," it begs the question: How can we teach students about the debt they're taking on before they choose a college?

Take a look and share your thoughts.

Beth,

Good article. I think you're striking an important chord. Higher education costs are increasing much faster than inflation while curricula and path choices continue to explode. Kids are confused and no one is doing a cost benefit analysis. Example, I know a young couple who borrowed heavily to finance an education in the performing arts. They have been low earners and the bottom line is they will be paying back student loans almost 'till the time the collect social security. More well to do parents need to consider the following; would you give your child a check for $250,000 and tell him to figure it out? Re government benes, my sense is they're just fueling the price increases.
